My First Trip: Bilwi/Puerto Cabezas
After joining the Board of Directors of Adelante Mujer in July 2016 I made my first visit to the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua, the second poorest region in the Western Hemisphere, in December. I was thrilled to be able to travel to Bilwi/Puerto Cabezas, with Sister Diane Bauknecht, where we attended the graduation of nine (one not pictured) new Adelante Mujer Doctors.

Adelante Mujer’s Many Kinds of Donors
Adelante Mujer is blessed by so many good people who contribute in so many different ways. They are donors of money without whom we could not exist. They are benefactors who donate time and labor and expertise like our web developer James Sharp from Glendale Designs and our Board of Directors whose services are totally uncompensated. The Sisters of St. Agnes surely belong to our list of blessings because they allow us to use an office with all its amenities.

Sister delivered the receipt to Ana at her home and promised Ana that when she returned to the US she would look for donors to help finance her medical education.

They started just about the same time. Sister Ann McKean, foundress of Adelante Mujer, conceived the idea to try to raise money in the US to help fund higher education for needy women in Nicaragua.
